How and where should I store my tuberoses for the winter?

Tuberoses do not need any special storage. A box or crate will do well. You can pack the container pretty full, as long as everything’s dry. Do not store them in a plastic bag, as they do much better with some air. We store ours in bulb crates that we can easily stack.
Store them in a cool, dry place for the winter. Garage, basement, utility room - all of these are fine. We store ours in either a garage or an unheated barn room.
Make sure you monitor the temperature inside your storage location. If the temperature drops below freezing where you have them stored, your bulbs will freeze and die. A small space heater that you can turn on when it’s really cold is a good investment.
For the first few weeks, check them to make sure there’s no evidence of fungal growth in your box or crate. If you’ve dried them well and stored them where they can get a bit of air, you won’t have any problems. If you find any fungus (it’ll be a bluish fuzz), immediately separate out the infected bulbs, and spread all of the bulbs in the crate out in the sun for two or three days.
