When should I plant tuberoses?

Planting tuberoses tuberose bulbs for sale
The earliest that tuberoses should be planted is a week or two before the last spring frost. They will be significantly damaged by frost or a freeze. It takes them a couple of weeks to come out of dormancy and sprout to the surface of the ground.  In our zone 7a creek bottom farmland in Central Virginia, we plant them the third or fourth week in April.

Tuberoses can also be stage-planted to extend the flowering season, but you can only extend it a little bit. This is because their time to flower is influenced by daylength. The later in the spring or early summer you plant them, the shorter the time from planting to flower.  For example, we have occasionally done two plantings, one in late April and one in early June.  The June-planted crop flowers only one week or so later than than the April-planted crop
